I would do it just because it isn't that hard to do and may give you peace of mind. There are some great write ups and pictorals on here, you will have to search and find them. One thing I would suggest though is that in most of the pictures it shows a bead of the red anaerobic sealant being applied. This is how I have done it in the past but this weekend I did one and when I finished, I looked over and realized I had left out the baffle, so I needed to do it again to put the baffle back in. When I took it apart, I got to see how much of that sealant made its way into the oil pan and how little was left to make the gasket. So the next time I did it, I applied a film of the anaerobic sealant instead of a bead. I am pretty sure I used less and will have less excess that gets in the oil pan and into the oil.
It may not be much, but as picky as we are with our oil it seems like we would want to do anything we can to keep this stuff out.
I would go ahead and get a new oring for the oil pickup tube because I don't think you are going to be able to find one once you have started. Good luck- Jerry
