Yes to the question on the fine mesh on the pickup tube. All the B235 and B205 engines have the same part. In the 2004 and later cars, the sludge problem was greatly reduced with the installtion of a new PVC system and by switching to a full synthetic oil with a shorter change interval.
For a 2007, I would not worry about sludging unless you suspected serious neglect.
