Update on '05 9-5

Since we bought a 2011 9-4X 3.0 XWD for my wife, her 2005 9-5 hasn't gotten much exercise. However, the 9-4X turns out to be a 20-22 MPG highway. Yes, it's great to have the XWD in the winter, but fill-ups, albeit regular grade come too regularly.
On the latest Spokane/Salt Lake City 1500-mile round trip, we decided to take the 9-5. Even with the Michelin tires at 41 PSI, the 9-5 is smoother, quieter, more comfortable and got 31.7 MPG of premium. The digital readout consistently was .4-.7 MPG higher than the odometer/fuel pump calculated MPG. The net fuel savings was $70.
Bottom line - The 9-5 has been a very good car and very dependable, even though it's not as great a car as some of the Saabs we've owned. (The '95 9000 Aero is still the best ever and the '98 CSE great all-around and the '74 and '78 EMS were great fun to drive and so on.) Even though the 9-5 is in near-perfect condition and only 80,000 miles, it really has very little residual retail value. Hate to have it taking up a parking place in the garage, but hate to let it go for a pittance. There are those times we appreciate a long distance sedan.
