The BPV used on the 9-5 is a Bosch membrane BPV.
The design idea behind the Bosch valve is mainly
one thing, it does not need servicing until the day
it fails. Bosch BPVs can fail as they use a spring
loaded membrane which with time can crack.

Forge valves are made out of aluminium not plastic
and operate in exactly the same way. A sping pushes
the aluminium piston back in place, as there is no
membrane, there is no membrane that can crack.
The Forge valve needs to be serviced once a year
if you use Mobil1 grease or another temp resistant
grease... (I use brake piston grease... seems to
work well, but I am getting Mobil1 grease next week)
The piston and the 2 seal rings need to be greased
at least once a year. This is a real quick 3 min job
and can be done with the Forge valve installed.

When you drive a car with a Bosch valve, one major
problem is that by design, it relies on the membrane
spring to seal under boost, this along with other
features make it less accurate then a Forge valve.
The Forge valve, once shut can't be pressure opened,
which however could be the case with a Bosch valve
as it does not seal the same way.
Another problem with the Bosch valve seems to be some
sort of membrane fluttering when boost is building up.
This has the result that under 2500 RPM the Bosch valve
does not shut off quickly and time is lost to seal properly.

When you drive with a Forge valve the main difference quickly
becomes noticable, starting at 900 RPM the Forge valve can
shut off, the engine thus follows its torque curve properly
and as a result you need to downshit far less often as the
engine feels more like a 6cyl. The boost build up hesitation
just vanishes.

Installation is a 5 minute thing, all you need is one set of
pliers, a little patience and a good grease job on the forge
valve piston before you install.

I use the 007P valve in black, looks good and less noticeable.

Coolknight
