ACC Step motor gear question Posted by MontereyAero [Email] (#506) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MontereyAero) on Wed, 30 Oct 2013 18:14:16 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I have viewed the many posts about step motor--blend door and related issues causing strange ACC performance. I found a 2 11 code and thus know the fault is on the passenger/rear and related to
a blend door. Our symptoms in our 2001 9.5 Aero are very hot air blowing on the passenger side and rear vents when the ACC is on while cold air is emitted on the driver's side.
Upon disassembly I noted the small gear on the step motor has slipped about 50 percent off the shaft and thus will not engage with the thin gear inside of the gear box. I conclude this is the cause of the blend door failure. My question is, what can I use to insure the gear does not slide to the shaft end after I reposition it and reassemble the motor? I'm thinking of a dollop of JB Weld on the shaft end. Suggestions appreciated.
