I agree, any dealer's service wants your biz. (Didn't Henry Ford say he'd give away cars if he could be sure they'd all come to him for the repairs?)But coincidentally there is a post right after yours (Minor Annoyance) re programming not being done for free since the car was purchased at a different dealership. And I think I've also read here where some dealers are less inclined to give a loaner out if you didn't get your car with them originally. And I once bought a car (not a Saab) from a different dealer than where I had it serviced -- and I would always get the worst appointments and service -- and I always figured it was because I hadn't bought there.
So while in theory there should be no difference in service, it seems in pactice, there may be. I just think if you can get a good enough deal from the dealer that's closest to you and who will be servicing your car , you may be better off than driving even further to save a few bucks today -- and have it costing you in other ways in the future. This is coming from someone who was raised driving from Staten Island to Reedman's in Pennsylvania for new cars -- a few hours away. But those were different times (always domestic cars and every other person on the block was a mechanic of some sort, so service was not even a consideration!).
