@dmz789qqq & Stephen Goldberger
First, I understand a "known good part" to be one that is removed from an operating-as-designed vehicle- - in the instant case, the CPS and the IDM from an operational power unit. Hence, I would qualify them as you would say,"Tested in another car".
Second, I compared the CPS resistance reading of the "known good part" and the suspect part reading to the resistance specified in the 9600 WIS. I did not perform the spark test to the cassette, as it was, "Tested in another car".
Third, combustion requires air, fuel, and spark. The intake passages were found free and clear of any blockages. The fuel pressure at the rail measured 38-40 psi. (We don't need no steenkin' $3 starting fluid!) With air and fuel present, i concluded spark must be missing I verified the three pressure sensors, then traced the wiring diagrams and tested the ignition circuits BUT...
Je estipide! Estoy estupido! You get the gist of it. Man, oh man do I ever want to hide my sheepish grin. Of course, you were spot on with the Crank Position Sensor! I found the torx bolt was loose enough it could be tightened by hand and the CPS could be pressed in more deeply. That ever so slight increase in air gap may have been the cause all along as the tach needle now rises when cranking, (Thank you dmz789qqq!). But the real benefit is the engine now starts more regularly! HOORAY!
Thank you both for banging on my hard head!
Happy SAABing!
