Airbag warning light fix 2005 9-5 Arc Strange But True! Posted by Dave the Ice Age Knave [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() |
(Long Version - skip to second paragraph for Short Version) Since the extreme temperatures affiliated with the Polar Vortex and/or catastrophic climate change descended on North America this winter, I have been plagued with a knave airbag trouble light illuminated in the instrument cluster. It started intermittently over the last three weeks and finally ended with a steady on condition. I had some time yesterday to go through numerous posts on this forum but that presented me with a bewildering array of options. I had been looking at the airbag light all day running errands and had to get ready for a matrimonially important St. Valentines dance that night. As a shade tree mechanic, luck is my best friend and frugality is my wife so after reviewing my Haynes Saab 9-5 manual, I desperately decided to do 2 things - pull the front grill and wiggle the two crash sensor connections and unplug the negative on the battery. Unsurprisingly, there was no success.
(Short Version)With the vehicle running, I decided to press the horn pad to see if the horn worked since the ribbon cable is apparently common. Voila - the airbag light extinguished itself before my very eyes and has remained off for the next 100km. Forget about Tech 2 - long live the horn pad! Another Saab 9-5 Believe It Or Not!
