BCV: Most will outlive the vehicle. I recall some posts from the NG900 BB where valves were cleaned with a mild solvent and compressed air. But that is really rather rare and unexpected. Most problems involve the hoses. Check that the host to the intake manifold it OK, trace it back. Be careful with PCV valve as its hose barbs become very brittle. We do see hoses pop off of the intercooler etc, traced and inspect those hoses. A failed hose is very rare. The feed pipe to throttle body can be an issue. All large turbo hoses need to be applied clean and dry. You do not want any oil in that interface as the friction there is what keeps the hose in place. The odd thing is that the engine computer will CEL [check engine light] if the turbo system cannot deliver boost that it is calling for; o I assume that your engine/boost is working well at this point.
Bypass valve: You can attach a hose to the hose barb and apply suction with your mouth. You should be able to do that and "seal" the hose with your tongue, you will be able to tell if the diaphragm is not able to maintain that pressure difference.
I can't remember when I last saw a post concerning a failure with either device.
