Still need help-lack of power when warm Posted by allissaab [Email] (#1488) [Profile/Gallery] (more from allissaab) on Tue, 3 Jun 2014 07:53:50 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
On my 99 SE 2.3 automatic 186,000 miles, the car runs normally when first started after at least several hours rest. After the car is warmed up it gradually loses power (has about 50% of normal power) and develops a pinging or tappet sound when trying to do a hard acceleration. Especially bad after sitting 10 to 20 minutes and then restarting the warm engine. Even with lack of power, the engine runs without any missing or surging and there are no warning or check engine lights. Have installed rebuilt throttle body, new CPS, new fuel pump in last 6 months. Have checked and changed vacuum hoses and checked for leaks at throttle body. The PCV hoses seem fine (6 update) and I switched air mass meter with my other 9-5 with no difference to either car. When I checked for blow by using a glove over the oil fill, I get an appropriate amount (for 185,000 miles) with cold engine, but none at all when checking while lack of power is occurring, (in fact the glove is completely sucked down the oil fill opening even when revving engine). Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
