How clean are the radiator and condenser fins? Is air flow good through both to effectively cool a hot condenser and hot radiator?
Maybe that airflow is enough that in motion, the ram air and fans get enough volume through the fins, but at idle the fans alone can't draw enough through to cool both? Econ mode would remove one of the sources of heat (condenser) allowing the radiator to cool the engine better?
What happens if you rev the engine up? Does the increased coolant circulation help?
Just a couple thoughts......
