Accidentally hit the post message button - sorry! As I was saying there is a visible coolant leak at the right lower corner of the front exhaust (turbo) manifold which is directly adjacent to the lower right corner of the head gasket. I am standing at the front of the car facing the engine. I don't think there would be a coolant passage under the exhaust manifold gasket so this implies that my head gasket is leaking coolant at this corner. Anders says tightening the head bolts on this engine is not necessary but my gut says maybe a head bolt has loosened.
There is plenty of coolant residue below this point and a lot of dried coolant deposits in the
area where the turbo connects to the front exhaust pipe especially on the bottom of this joint.
Is it possible for coolant to be leaking from this corner of the exhaust manifold? I have a new gasket for this but changing it will be a bear and also quite dumb if there is no coolant under it to leak! Hoping someone can shed some light on this persistent leak. Thanks!
