Patient is a 1999 LPT wagon with auto trans. Nearly 350k on the clock.
Brakes act as though there is a massive hydraulic leak, or air pocket. Pressing the pedal gently usually results in decent braking, stabbing at the pedal, as in an avoidance maneuver is a 50-50 chance of getting brakes, or not...
Pedal is NOT hard, in fact, if anything, it is softer than it should be.
Recent work, which the brake issue predated, was a complete rebuild of the rear brakes: Rotors, pads, complete e-brake. I have to check if the calipers got done as well. . In fact, immediately upon picking up the car from the brake work, it felt fine for some miles, then started to go off again.
No apparent leaks while the car is parked.
No ABS or other indication lights on the dash. Car things it's all fine.
Obviously, the first thing I will try is a complete bleed of the hydraulics to see if that fixes anything. Once I get that Round Tuit...
But I was posting here to find out if anyone has had a similar problem, and what the ultimate solution was.
