You can get 100% synthetic PAG oil from acsource.com, probably other places as well. Be sure to get the recommended viscosity; ISO 46, 100, and 150 are common. Yes, you would normally use the factory guidelines for the amount of oil to add for the components that have been replaced and any lost when purging refrigerant.

The alternative would be to dump out the old oil in the compressor and flush out rest of the system, then add the proper amount of fresh oil. PAG oil absorbs moisture from the air very readily, so if your system has been open to atmosphere for a while the remaining oil has been contaminated with moisture. This forms hydrochloric and hydrofluoric acids with the R134a refrigerant. (Which is why R134a systems have a reputation for developing pinholes in their evaporators.)

Unfortunately, pulling vacuum does not remove moisture from the oil. This is one of those situations where there's the right way to do it (purge the moisture-laden oil and replace it with fresh stuff) versus what you may be able to get away with (just top it up and be happy for as long as it works).
