I recently bought a 2008 9-5 2.3T Sportcombi with 72k miles that is great shape. The only thing that the previous owner warned me about was that the fuel gauge seemed to go to E very quickly over the last 1/4 tank.
I did notice that, but since all cars are slightly different on that, I reset the DTE info and mileage info when I filled up before a recent trip so things could reset to my driving pattern. The car drove fine on the trip, but after two tanks of gas now, the DTE registers near 0 and the gauge is a ways into the red when I have filled up, but the pump stops at about 15.5 gallons. The owners manual says the tank capacity is 18 gallons. Does this indicate any problems or just the fuel gauge being a bit "off"?
On my 2000 9-3, it has been very consistent over the years. Tank capacity is 17 gallons and when DTE is near 0 and and the fuel gauge is near E, I have filled it up with 16+ gallons a few times.
