Jersy's right, definitely a brake line. I've experienced this on a Jeep. Even the c900, the interior brake lines can get exposed to salt and other corrosives and suffer the same consequence.
Not to bad a repair if you the ends aren't rusted (corroded) in place. I'm not sure if you're suppose to cut out the bad and flare the ends to put in a new section. Definitely wouldn't attempt with out the correct tools. Somewhere I've read some states won't allow cars to pass inspection if they see lines repaired in this fashion, but I'm just not sure. Some lines have double flares and with the resultant loss of pressure, no brakes. Perhaps Anders or someone else can weigh in on this.
As I recall on my Jeep, I replaced the entire length from master cylinder back to a "T" fitting on the rear axle. Fortunately, everything came apart. The line is not terribly expensive. If you do yourself, get a tubing bender.
