We have two 2001 9.5 SW's. I could be wrong, but my understanding is that rear vents are "plumbed" or otherwise tied to passenger side controls. At 137K and 120K miles, we have yet to notice any difference between passenger side and rear. For example, when a blend door fails on passenger side, the air going to rear is just as screwed-up as on the passenger side. Following repair, both passenger and rear are OK. Volume and temp of air to rear seems adequate and the same in both cars.
