2003 Aero sedan. My wife had been getting the "service theft alarm" message on the SID for the past week then...I heard the alarm going off outside. Of course, by the time I opened the garage door, the siren had quit.
I removed the siren which took about 45 minutes and was pretty easy. I must say I didn't really miss the chirps when locking/unlocking the car. The "service theft alarm" notification will come up now every time we start the car but hitting clear should take care of it.
My wife will drive the car without the siren and see if she can live without the chirps and having to clear the message on the SID.
BTW my wife is always amazed every time I know what's wrong with her car and can fix it but I owe it all to SAABNET and all the reading I have done here in the past several years.
I know Tech 2 can program the car to use the horn but I don't think it's necessary. Who's going to steal an eleven year old Saab? Silence is golden.
