From my internetunderstanding which is little more than heresay or tradition, you can store it any which way but after installing the spare, make sure you let it sit engine unstarted, key out in the hell of fire for at least 20 min or more in order for the insulating oil to full gravitate around the coils. That said, I have never seen scientific proof of this.
