yep --I have a V6 as well. My mechanic welded in a flex pipe, and it worked great for about a year.
At just about that point, my DICs failed, and the original cat subsequently failed (stupidly, I had limped the car into the shop with the flashing CEL - life lesson). Replacing the V6 cat also replaced the welded section, so while I assume it would have continued to hold up, I can't say for certain.
