The ability to have a hands free phone in the 9-5 might be one of the most under reported and under rated features of the car, and I believe it is because the presence of Onstar has made the installation more difficult. It works with Nokis 5,6,and 7000 series phones, and has been reported to work with some Kyocera and Ericsons as well. You need a separate microphone since the built in one is tied to Onstar, and a device known as the Triad, which is a glorified relay that allows the audio system to talk to both Onstar and your hands free phone. Opinions will vary about the do it yourself vs. professional installation, but I vote for professional every time. Doing a job like this for the first time is a lain , even for someone with electronics experience and skill. A pro can do it in about two hours, so it will cost you $100 bucks and you are ready to go.
I am on my second 9-5 with total hands free calling, and would have trouble going back to any other car at this point. By the way,I rarely speed, but agree with John Davies on the V-1. Got mine upgraded about six months ago, and the new one is even better than the orriginal.
