...after the discussions on the forum back in July. I had tried to remove the switch initially, but had a little trouble figuring out how to get it to turn that 90 degrees counter clockwise to come loose as it is fairly tight to get your hand up there. And it was very hot the day I tried it in late July so I waited for a cooler morning a few weeks ago.
Mark in Marine, I think you gave me the tip on which of the two switches it was behind the brake pedal arm, so thanks for that too!
I found it easier to twist the switch to get it out of the bracket using a needle nose pliers to get a little grip on it and start it turning, then I could turn it with my fingers.
One other thing I found out is that the new OEM brake light switch I ordered from eEuroparts (and did not use) was a bit different from the one I removed tested and reinstalled in my 2008 9-5. The one from eEuroparts had a hexagonal shaped plastic housing and the original one from my 9-5 had a rectangular plastic housing with slightly rounded corners. They both seemed the same "size" and had the same connector, etc., so I think it is probably just a supplier change or manufacturing change since 2008.
