From fixmysaab, the modification was not very hard, and I suspect that you can tell whether or not you need to do this just by inspecting and comparing to the photos on that web site. You will already have the alternator bracket out, and you can check that fit outside of the car where it is easier to see and to work on. Just be sure the any filing you do on the bracket leaves no sharp gouges to concentrate stress and start a crack.
