Manual trans dipstick....long Posted by GFW3pedals [Email] (#405) [Profile/Gallery] (more from GFW3pedals) on Mon, 1 Feb 2016 07:54:17 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
After having an engine oil leak fixed last fall, and knowing the driver side axle seal was leaking too, I decided to R&R the trans fluid, finding that the amount drained was exactly what is specified, so how bad was the leak anyway? That was in the fall as well, with my thoughts being now that the other leaks were fixed I could really get a good gauge on how much trans fluid was leaking. It was warm here this weekend and an oil change was long overdue. Once under the car I could see the new fluid ( GM red stuff ) that I put in in the fall all over the left side of the box. So now what? Let it ride? Get it fixed for 700+$ Jacking up the car, removing the wheel, leveling the car, removing the side plug all to check the fluid is not user friendly. Question: is it at all possible to use some sort of homemade dipstick to check the level, or since the proper level is only about halfway, the gears would stop any type of stick used to measure?
