Went to have my emissions checked to get tags for my '99 9-5 in GA today. The emissions computer recorded a "failure to connect" to the 9-5 onboard computer. This equates to an emissions failure and means a trip to the dealer. I called my dealer, he explained a number of Saabs and other EU cars have been failing because of "errors" in the emissions testing software. Anyone else had this issue or heard of it?
He also said that the 9-5 (and I assume later 9-3) must have the engine run for at least 30 minutes prior to testing and that the car cannot be shut off before or during the test or a failure will result. Gee, it would be nice if people told you this before you went to get tested and then need to schedule a trip to the dealer to get the clearance letter to re-test. It would also help if the testing stations new what is required.
I'll visit the dealer later this week to check the connector. I'll re-post if any further updates are of use.
