I have an Interstate Megatron Plus MTP-91/T6 battery. It will be 3 years old this July. About a week ago I went to a dealer to have it checked and possibly replaced but after testing it he stated it was in a very good state and the battery was not the problem. (He might be wrong, of course.)
I had the start problem occur again yesterday when the car started in the morning w/o issues, and I drove it for close to 3 hours and then went on a hike on a warm California afternoon. At 5 pm, after the hike, I cranked and cranked and cranked and ... finally it started.
I will take a multimeter with me next time to check the battery voltage when this is happening.
Also, I wonder how the state of the battery could affect the start. The battery is there to give juice to the starter, which moves the engine. If the battery is weaker, then the starter might not crank fast enough, I guess, and that could be the problem. Right?
On one occasion during the camping trip I asked for a jump and the car started right away, but on another it still did not start right away and some cranking was needed.
