pinging suspect air leak....

My 04 9-5 ARC seems to be pinging quite a lot, mostly soft pinging and at relatively low throttle positions...especially with the AC on. I have open SID and I can see Mreq and Mair (requested air mass vs actual) for short moments the Mair exceeds the Mreq, which I imagine would cause a lean situation. It also seems to idle a bit rough. I noticed a bit of oil residue at the PCV feed into the air intake tract just past the MAF (plastic pipe) is this normal? What are the key areas to check for leaks TIA
Mark
