Anyone out there know of an insurance carrier, operating in CA, that offers good rates on 9-5 Aeros? I plan on purhcasing an Aero sedan soon and asked my current insurance carrier how my rates would change from what I pay for my current vehicle ('94 Jetta GLS). I was more than a little disappointed to hear that the exact same coverage would cost me about $230 more each 6 months with A.I.G.
The explanation offered was that they didn't have a lot of info. about the 9-5 in their system. The customer service rep. I spoke to didn't even know about the different 9-5 models (base, SE, Aero). Moreover, he said that the cars, not being all that common, there were not many accident/driver stats on the vehicle yet. Of course he offered that as more info. on the model became availabe the rates could go down. So all they saw was that the car was expensive and very powerful and they had little else to go on.
Can anyone direct me to insurers who oeprate in California that will give a good rate on a 9-5 Aero? Obviously driver history and record is important, but all things being equal I really don't want to pay much more to insure an Aero than I do my VW. The Aero, while faster and costlier, has a lot more safety features than my Jetta and the 2001 Saab's standard Onstar tracking system convinces me that the risk of loss by means of theft should be discounted.
