My battery lasts just 5-7hrs if sitting idle.
I measured the parasitic draw and it was 0.11 amps. Seems close enough.
I believed the battery was the problem, but CAA where I bought the battery from said it wasn't and they think the charging system may be a problem. They jumped the car and then started it after 4 minutes of alternator charging - and found the battery dropped below 10V during start. They also said the alternator was at 13.7V.
However, when I charge the battery overnight I find with my multimeter
- 13.1V in the morning
- after letting lights on for a while drops to 12.7 V
- starting car I get drop to 11.3V for a sec and then back to 14.1V
So to me, the alternator is fine at 14.1V measured at the battery.
Also, the car starts repeatedly no problem and I don't see the battery below 11.3V on any start.
The mystery is this, I can drive 300km no problem with this car, with short stops along the way. But if it sits for 5hrs+ the car may not start.
Sounds like the battery, but CAA refuses to replace as they think the battery is fine and the alternator is the problem.
