2007 9-5 Aero Wagon ~120k miles auto:
I need some help figuring out what is wrong. Code recommendation from AutoZone was to replace wastegate solenoid. Sorry for the long message but want to give the details leading up to where I am at now.
A month or so ago I got a p1312 code and was getting vibration when driving on highway and rough idle. It would also feel like it was downshifting when letting off throttle (I know it wasn't downshifting but that's the best way I can describe how it felt pushing back a second or so after letting off the pedal) driving above about 35 mph I presume from the misfire. I pulled the DIC and checked plugs then found oil around plugs 4. I cleaned all the oil and swapped DIC with my 2001 9-3 base model just incase it was a failing DIC rather than the oil fowling out the spark and it was a little better at first but then went back to the same after a few days. Then I bought a new Genuine Saab DIC, changed plugs and I also changed the valve cover gasket. When changing the gasket, a couple of valve nipples broke so I temporarily taped them up the best I could and ordered all the valves and hoses.
I replaced vacuum lines this past weekend with silicone hose because they were old and kept popping off the vacuum valve at the firewall. I also changed brake pressure booster hoses, top oil trap hoses that were broken. Everything was working just fine at first during test drive and then I lost boost pressure. It wasn't really running rough just no boost. Gauge still got up to the middle section (no green, orange, red in the newer ones but equivalent to yellow) and could hear a little bit of spooling but no added power from the turbo.
Last night I pulled the codes and the p1312 was gone but I now had the p1662 code - charge air control valve circuit board open/short to ground. After researching some, I tried first to just unplug the BCV with no change. Then I swapped out the BCV with the one from my 9-3 and unplugged the battery for about 15 minutes but had no improvement other than CEL going away and not coming back. I then swapped the vacuum valve and the stock Bosch bypass valve with the forged piston bypass valve from my 9-3 with still no change.
That's where I am now. Do I need to change the wastegate on the turbo? Can it be changed separately from the turbo or does it need to be done together with the turbo? I have a new td04 I bought a while ago because it was a good deal and knew I could either use it to upgrade my 9-3 or as a replacement for my 9-5. I've never done a turbo replacement so that does scare me a little so if that needs to be done, any advice is welcomed. I might be able to recruit help from a local Saab club friend.
Other concern is that we're leaving tomorrow night for a family vacation north of Atlanta from Raleigh area and plan to take the 9-5 wagon rather than the 9-3.
Sorry again for the long message but thank you for reading and for the help.
