2005 9-5 - Steady oil leak near timing chain tensioner. Posted by scott47 [Email] (#119) [Profile/Gallery] (more from scott47) on Tue, 9 Aug 2016 09:32:03 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I hoped it might be the timing chain tensioner seal, but I replaced it and that didn't help.
In my research I've narrowed it down to either the head gasket, the timing chain cover or both.
Is there a way to figure out exactly where the leak is coming from and which items(s) might need to be replaced? Or is it better to replace both?
Mostly I'm asking because while I'm comfortable changing the head gasket I don't have the room or the tools right now to pull the motor for the timing chain cover. But I hate to spend all the time and money replacing the head gasket if the odds are good that it is the timing chain cover, or both items...
Any help, guidance, suggestions or experience will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Scott
