I think you mean no start condition. Very important to keep the two apart when asking for help. No start condition or no crank condition.
Well, it is kind of an old fashioned suggestion that stems back from the times of the Hall effect sensor ignition distributors where you could see a distinct pulsing or jumping of tach needle while cranking over.
On these computer controlled cars with a pulse generated wave form from the CKP sensor, it is much more difficult to see the action of the tach needle.
The cranking speed of the starter only generates about 200-250 rpm so you will not see anything more than that on the tach which is pretty much at the bottom of tachometer.
Still possible but harder for an untrained eye.
And when the engine is in fact starting up normally, you will not be able to see the cranking speed tach needle jump because in the very next split second, the engine is running producing much more rpm.
