Spider Spikes love snow and ice. They don't like bare pavement as it can wear down the studs and gouge up the plastic. Limited max speed of 30 MPH. They cost around $455 including shipping (1 pair). I have the exact style as your attached pictures. Mine are Compact, Size C-3 for 2002 SAAB Arc. I wish studded tires were outlawed here in Oregon. Our roads take a horrible beating as well as our taxes. I refuse to use studded tires. If you abandon your car here on the highway from being stuck in the snow due to unpreparedness, they tow your car to a designated lot for free. No incentive to be prepared for bad weather. BTW, Spider Spikes are often for sale on Craigslist. I bought mine used for $160. The previous owner only had used the mounting disk that attaches to the lug nuts. All of the stuff was for SAAB's 17MM lugs. The actual Spikes had never been used. I like them a lot. Biggest problem we had this week was 10 - 13" of snow on the roads. The SAAB is so low, I was high centering. Pretty hard to get around. I'd like to look under my car when I get time as the undercarriage dragged over the snow for miles.
