New Saab owner...Big problems? (long)

Picked up our first Saab today. A '99 9-5 SE with 46,000 miles. Took it out for a drive this evening and out of the blue check engine and check gearbox lights came on at the same time. Drove back home, turned car off, restarted..both lights still lit. This is our first Saab, so not sure what to make of this. Noticed one other thing today as well. Car seems to "hesitate" when first starting and reversing (kind of jerky) Hope this all makes sense...being this is our first Saab. I don't want to be redundant with things talked about previously on the board...but a little concerned about having problems the first day!!
