Watching a good mechanic friend on a '03' 9-5 Aero HG. One owner, high miles, excellent maintenance. Running OK but using a little coolant so HG time. Checked compression before and it's 180 on all four. Timing chain stretch is 11mm. HG went routinely. Cranked engine with plugs out before trying to get oil back up to the camshafts-nothing. Dropped pan and cleaned pickup screen-almost nothing there.Checked oil pump check valve-OK. Replaced pickup o-ring. Packed oil pump with Vaseline and cranked again-nothing. Not even any oil in the filter. One thing I noticed during the reassembly process was he lubed the lifters with thick amber chassis grease-'can't find the Vaseline'. Any thoughts?
