Loss of Power - Limp Mode Posted by Doug W [Email] (#2371) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Doug W) on Sat, 17 Jun 2017 10:01:34 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
My wife was driving our '04 9-5 Aero about 1/2 mile from home and all the dash lights came on as if the car stalled, yet it was still rolling. There were no power brakes or steering so I'm assuming the engine had stalled. We live on a hill so the car was still moving when this happened and she was able to roll along. There may have been limited power as there is a flat spot before our house.
She gets the car to the driveway. I started the car and it ran normally - no CEL came up. I pulled it uphill into the garage and put my OpCom computer on it. NO DTCs come up. The car has about 178,000 miles on it. The fuel pump (OEM) was replaced on 11/7/15 at 157k. The ignition module (Wells) was replaced 4/13/14 at 137.5k. The CPS (OEM) was done 10/14/11 at 102k and would likely have thrown a code. The throttle body (Hella) was done 10/13/15 at 156k. The ignition switch (OEM) - not the lock cylinder was done 9/9/15 at 155k after a similar episode. The drive belt and rollers were done 9/6/14 at 143k. The car makes no odd noises while idling and the accessory drive belt appears normal and from what I can tell has no damage or slippage.
Any clues on where to start? We're very apprehensive about driving it for fear of another failure in the street.
Thanks.
