I don't think mine are more than 10". The 9-5 is a normal car, not a monster truck so I don't think it should be an issue. Mine were one of the cheapest options from the Canadian equivalent of HF (Princess Auto), and are the screw type design you use in pairs. Maybe $20 for the pair? I have heard that spring compressors can fail, and you absolutely do not want that massive amount of stored energy aimed in your direction when it does. So work with them with the expectation that they are going to fail - treat it like a loaded gun. That said, I did not have any issue. I think the fronts were more of a challenge than the rears in terms of the force required in compressing the spring.
