Doesn't have to be a spare "remote FOB". I got a copy key (entire key, just like the 2 you get new) without the FOB part. (No buttons, but empty where that is). The cost was ~$30.
What I did was to remove the metal key part from the plastic (Dremel tool) and put it in my wallet. Since my wallet stay on my person at all times, if I ever left my keys in the car by accident, I can just get the doors with it and get the key.
One thing I noticed that was interesting was that I know the skeleton key doesn't start the car. However, if I put the "FOB key" very close to the ignition switch, I can get the car started with the skeleton key. :-)
