While waiting to get diagnosis / mechanic time on my daughter's 2006 SC, I have searched internet and come up with Bosch part number 0 280 142 386 for just an Evap purge valve (no pipe, hose, or check valves). I am ordering one from eEuro at cost of $35.49, and I will inspect and see if it matches the OE valve. Two on-line sellers of used hose-and-valve parts showed this PN (one in US, one in Sweden), and a search for the entire PN 55556492 on Google cross-connected on those listings.
For the professional mechanic, this would not be a viable choice, because they have to make sure the problem is really fixed, without lots of extra labor. But for a DIYer it might be an option. A while back Swedecar shared that he had not replaced many Evap purge valves on later model 9-5's - so I am first going to thoroughly check the connectors and integrity of the Evap purge hoses.
I will post back both what I find in troubleshooting and in how the part matches up to what is in the car.
