I will be replacing the upper radiator hose, thermostat, coolant by-pass valve assembly, and coolant this weekend on my '08. On my '00 I could reach down from the top with a small set of channel-locks to open the petcock. In the past on my '08 I have used a petcock wrench on a long extension running through the wheel well parallel to the sub-frame to open this hidden valve. Awkward and half blind task.
It appears I need to remove the battery cover, battery, and battery heat shield to access the radiator end clamp on the upper hose. Going this far, is the petcock accessible from the top by removing the battery tray too?
I have a new CH3881 hose that I bought years ago, and having done this same mod on my '00 I know to keep the vacuum solenoid to the removed by-pass valve connected and tied back.
Thanks,
