The plastic bushing was a little bit of a struggle to get pushed into the eye on the end of the cable. The successful technique I settled on was to put pressure on the bushing with a pair of Channellock pliers while pushing in the ears with a screwdriver. The bushing looks solid and will probably out last the car. Absolutely no difference in the feel of the shifter and no change in transmitted vibration.
