I have done this on a 1999 SE 2.3t and on a 2006 Sport Combi (Aero style, but no Aero naming that year).
What BobC said.
AND expect that you might have some fitment issues between the muffler tail pipe and the bumper. I can't remember whether the '04 Linear has a bumper cutout or not. For the 2006, the "SAAB OE" muffler that I received from eEuroparts was a re-branded Starla (by SAAB/Orio, not eEuro), and the chrome tip did not fit properly. I heated and bent the rear hangers on the muffler to make it acceptable, BUT if I were doing this over, I would go straight to my local affordable muffler guy and get the whole thing done for the same price as I paid for parts. I only found out how good the local guy was when the 1999 needed a new flex pipe . . .
