I actually own a 2002 Aero, but since it is in for 30-day service I have had the pleasure to drive an 02 Linear with 3K miles on it for the week. Are you in sport mode when this happens? My Aero is 5 speed and the linear is automatic, but I have been pushing the linear all week and I have experienced very little turbo lag. The auto is very peppy and I am very impressed by the power for the lpt. I know for a fact that I ease into my take offs - it something I got very used to with the Viggen I owned. In the case of the Viggen is was to control torque steer, but with the linear if you ease into it an put it to the floor it really takes off.
Others have also recommended buying a forged valve to eliminate the lag. I am probably going to add one to my aero just so that the take-off is as smooth as can be. The forged valves only coast about $150 and look easy to install.
