Friday night I was northbound on PCH in Malibu doing 40mph in far right hand lane. Suddenly a car came across the center divider going backwards and shot into my lane at about 30-40 mph I did hit the brakes, but there was really no space or time.
High G crash my front, his rear [going backward] air bags, seat belts, Saab seats all did their job. Knocked the wind out of me, sprained and cut my left hand, and having my right foot on the brakes hard cause my shin and knee to jam into the bolster under the steering wheel. CHP was actually a witness to the rest of the incident which included road rage on the part of 2 other vehicles involved.
Knocked the wind out me, Bad seat belt bruises across my chest and down my side [purple and yellow] which are still very painful, and a week later I am still on crutches for the bruises on my lower leg.
I was transported by ambulance to the emergency room.
I am hurting, but no broken bones and I am alive. I friend who came on the scene later that night said "that Saab saved your life" and I agree after looking at the photos.
I have had 14 or so Saabs and have always been grateful for their safety and stout design.
I have seen photos of the car and the front is a mess and engine pushed back considerably.
Thank you Saab. Remember when keeping those old 9-5s on the road just how safe they really are.
