That's the difference between paying a mechanic to do it the right away and a home hack.
By now, it is almost impossible to dig out the Sport button due to brittle plastic and shift knob becoming petrified. So I have a new on the shelf.
And on 01 and older you have to desolder the two wires from sport button.
After that it is just to be careful separating the shifter lever and not pinch the wires for sport button when things goes back together.
But at this point, the green shift indicator strip is also starting to see the last of its life or being damaged by the cover pieces and that strip is not available as a separate part but comes with the light box, IF they are still available.
