MY LED 3rd brake light stopped working. I could buy a new led strip for $51.00 but they wer always back ordered. You can but the whole assembly for $139.68, but that is always back ordered too.
So I bought an LED strip on eBay for $4.00 and put that in and it worked well.....better than the OEM LED, much brighter.
Put it all back together and was happy with my fix, except I kept getting and error message on the SID that my brake lights were not working.
Took out my resister box and found that adding 10 ohms of resistance solved the problem. I wired in a 10 ohm resister and cured the problem. I guess the computer is looking for a certain resistance load and if the number is not right, it throws a SID warning light. The resistor is the little ar between the 2 wires. I put red liquid tape of the + side and black on the - side. Will tape it up before I put the panel back in place.
