Welcome, Soon-to-be Saab Larry.
There have been posts regarding this subject in the past, and one major factor has been climate. People in the warmer climates love the ventilated seats. The fans really do work.
Before I bought my Aero, we took an Arc for a weekend trip. The "fart" fans, as our son calls them, are cool (excuse the pun), but very noisy. The leather itself, well, I refer to the perforations as "crumb catchers". And I did not care for the little "threads" of leather coming up out of the holes, especially the charcoal color. I constantly wanted to trim them off. Also, the perforated leather appears to be very difficult to clean.
By the way, not to confuse your decision, but have you driven an Aero yet??? That was my mistake, I couldn't decide which 9-5 I liked the best, until I drove an Aero. My deciding factors were the seats (they are awesome), the stiffer suspension, and the xenon lights, which you can't get on the Linear. The Arc is nice, but I really wanted a manual.
I'm sure you will be happy with whichever Saab you decide to get!
Good Luck,
AeroLady
