To me WD40 is for dispersing water. I use AmsOil Light Duty Metal Protector, or Wurth HHSK. Those are both lubricants. Of the two I prefer the AmsOil product, slightly less gummy. Wurth HHSK is GREAT for hinges and door stops. For really stubborn lock cylinders I'd probably resort to AeroKroil. We'll give it a shot of AmsOil MP.
