Following up, looking more closely at the interior of the OEM side mirror cover I could see a few places where the paint had not been sprayed on to completely cover the base black plastic in some corners around clips so it had been pre-painted. There was a sticker inside that mentioned the paint color name. I don't remember the exact name (some type of silver that was not the snow silver metallic of my Sportcombi) but it was a match (close enough).
Used the online WIS listed here at Saabnet to figure out how to remove the hold mirror and housing and installed the new one and all is good! The trickiest part is seeing to detach the "ring spring" that locks the mirror to the motorized face that aims the mirror so that the mirror can be removed and expose the clips to detach the side mirror cover.
