Hi beams won't stay on?

It seems our '06 9-5 wagon is just determined to drive me nuts with little glitches.
First, it was figuring out how to change a pass side headlight bulb (solved here thanks to several folks' expert advice).
Now, it's the high beams: with headlights on (switch all the way to the right), pulling on the stalk will activate the high beams - but there's no "toggle": you have to hold in the stalk to keep the high beams on - if you let go, they turn off.
Plain old halogen lights.
My first inclination was, "orange relay," as in my '01 Aero, but this year Saab has a different fuse/relay box configuration - several different relays, just for the headlights?
How to troubleshoot this issue? Is it a relay?
TIA!
